A day at the pool

This is where Emily hung out in the pool 80% of the time. The other 20% she was clinging onto her uncle Rob, Kenneth or me! She also liked to get out and get the ball when it would get out of the pool. For not being able to swim yet, she had so much fun!
Uncle Rob got her this to help her hopefully want to get in the pool more. It didn't work out so much, but she did appear to be more comfortable in the pool with this one compared to the other one.
She would want to come up, get a drink of juice and then head back to the steps. Of course she had to wave goodbye every time she went back!
And after swimming, the girls were so tired. They laid out on the couch until Emily and I went back to our room where she passed out for 2 hours...and so did I!!!

Memories

I recently went through and organized all of my stuff. Sadly, as much stuff as I have here in MI, I think most of my stuff is taking over my parents garage and storage unit! (Sorry about that dad!) But, in the process of organizing, I came across a 5x7 of this picture of Emily. It was perfect timing too when I found it. She was having what I like to call a 2 year old day! I was so tired of dealing with my 2 year old daughter and I was just wanting my sweet daughter back. I found this picture and my heard melted. All of those memories came pouring back. Remembering all of the wires hooked up to her, the tube in her nose, not being able to touch her for 2.5 days! Not being able to see her for more than 2 minutes for 2.5 days! The whole not knowing what would happen with my baby. Being on the Oregon coast recovering from my c-section, and Emily being in Portland in the NICU. She was born on a Friday and I didn't get to see her until Sunday afternoon. It was the longest weekend of my life. To finally be reunited with my baby! I had sent my poor mother to Portland with Emily to make medical decisions for me in my absence. A week later on Christmas Eve we were finally able to come home. After one problem after another, it was finally nice to be home.
I LOVED this outfit on her. She outgrew it WAY too quickly. My mom's best friend Shirley got this and brought it to me at the hospital in Portland. Shirley was there to support my mom while I was there with Emily. She was about 2 weeks old here.
Wal-mart had this dress and I had bought it when I was 6 months pregnant with Emily. I absolutely loved it. Again, she grew out of it way too fast! Emily was about 1 month old here.
And here are a few firsts. I had just gotten home from work and she just stared at me! It was one of the first time she recognized me, not just by my voice, but by my face. It is one of those moments that I will never forget.
I know, this blog might be boring to some of you, but I just went down memory lane with Emily and wanted to post some of my favorite pictures. It is amazing how fast they grow.

Reading with aunt Jen

Yesterday I was just having a really bad day and had NO patience with Emily whatsoever. Jen got home from work and was more than happy to take care of Emmy for the rest of the day for me. Of course Emily was well behaved for her aunt Jen! Jen got her all ready for bed and had her nightly reading session. My parents had gotten Emily a set of Spot books for Christmas of 2006. Emily LOVES the books. Also, she also loves reading Winnie the Pooh. I got her the DVDs and she loves them. And to help her with potty training (keeping my fingers crossed) I got her a book that talks about potty training. It has a button to push that makes the flushing sound and a little girl cheering. She calls it her potty book!
She literally concentrates this hard on "reading" when she looks at a book. She points to words and when she has completed pointing at most of the words, she turns the page. It is really cute.
And of course aunt Jen got her to wave at me while they were "reading!"Aren't they just took cute!

And of course a quick video clip of them reading. Mainly talking about cookies and cake because that is what aunt Jen was hungry for at the time!

Dancing in the car

Whenever a song comes on that Emily likes or has a good beat to it, she just loves to dance to it. Most of the time she will quit when I turn to watch her, but she was having so much fun dancing to it that she didn't stop. Was super excited that I got it on video.

First Zoo Trip

Today we went to the Potawatomi Zoo. This was Emily's first time to a zoo. She was so fun to watch as she wanted to run to everything and see everything all at once!
Luckily, her uncle "Wob" told me to take some quarters to get some fish food so that Emily could feed the fish. She had so much fun doing this. Well, she mainly fed the "quack quacks" but she still had fun!
Emily with her two favorite cousins. Kenny didn't want to sit and take the picture because he is "too cool" for that now, but he humored me and did it!
Tina was looking out over the pond to watch the fish and so Emmy had to as well. This is Tina lifting her up and getting her off of the stand!
And of course we had to look at the aligators. Best that they were inside...even though they were babies!!!

I love Wal-Mart!!!

This amazingly cute outfit I got at Walmart today for a grand total of...$6!!!! The shirt was $1 and the shorts were $5! How completely awesome is that! I LOVE Walmart!!!
Think she is going to be a cheerleader, eh?!
And a random note for this blog...When we went to Canada two weekends ago, I got this quarter back in change from when we had gotten the kids food. It is a Canadian quarter with the breast cancer ribbon on it. Since my favorite aunt was diagnosed with cancer last year, the pink ribbon has meant so much more to me. I kept this for her and mailed it to her this week. I just thought that it was so neat that a country would put this on their money! How completely awesome is that?! Oh, and just a side note...my aunt had surgery to remove the cancer and she has been cancer free ever since.

Guitar Hero

The greatest thing ever...I had gone to the store today and Emmy stayed home with her cousins. Kenny had been playing Guitar Hero when I left and was going to hang out with Emmy. When I got home, this is what I found when I got home! She was rocking her head back and fourth and pretending to play the guitar. It was the greatest thing ever!
And this is what happens when I let her eat her chicken nuggets with ketchup! She is such a messy girl!! But her face was too precious!
