Chicken Pox

Recently discovered that just because you get your child immunized, it does not protect them from the things in which you got them immunizations for! Last week, I noticed a few red spots on Emily. I was thinking she was getting bit by something. Saturday morning last week she woke up COVERED it red spots and itching. SERIOUSLY?! She got to hang out at home all week, but finally was all healed and went back to school yesterday. Poor kid. Had her loaded with Benedryl and Calomine lotion. Luckily it wasn't a bad case.

Just Because...

Emily, my roommates daughter and I.
I just love the look of innocence on her face.

Best Friends

Emily has become really good friends with my coworkers kids. We go over to their place almost every day so the kids can play together. It's fun to watch her interact with other kids.

Sick Girl

With Kindergarten comes germs and lots of them! My poor girl had a really bad cold the first weekend after school, which led to nana taking care of her all weekend and nursing her back to health. She even ran a fever, which she NEVER does. And then this last weekend, she woke up Sunday morning throwing up, which she continued to do throughout the day. Poor girl, when she got sick in my car while we were driving to nana's, she got scared. Everytime she gets sick, she remembers the day my dad past away and how he got sick in my car. I was kind of hoping she would forget that, but apparently not yet. Any ways...she is back to herself today and went to school. Amazing how quickly kids recover.

Chef Emmy!

Emily loves helping out in the kitchen...I just thought she looked so cute!

Kindergarten!!!

Getting her last shot before school starts (Her doctor gave her one of her Hep B series too early, so we had to get another one.) She did great, no crying!
Signing that she will behave herself!

Waiting for Kindergarten orientation...can ya tell she is excited?!

And finally, her very first day of Kindergarten!! She is loving it!
After a little confusion the week before school and having to switch her schools, we have settled into everything...for now. They had more students register this year than they were prepared for, so right now one teacher has 37 students in the morning, and 34 in the afternoon! They are going to hire another part time teacher, so Emily may have to switch teachers...we shall see.

Precious Moments

I do believe that I was anxious for summer to keep busy with work. I really wish I could go back and retract that statement. Keeping a full staff has been the hardest thing yet this summer. At this point, I am beyond exhausted. Last weekend I worked 30 hours in 2 days. This weekend I am working 30 hours in 2 days. I miss my kid!! I am so grateful my mom is able to keep Emily for me, but at this rate, I never get to see her on the weekends. I got off of work at 8:30 Friday night, back at work at midnight tonight (with a hour nap!) and I will work until 4pm Saturday evening. Back at work at midnight Sunday morning. I need a vacation. I realized the other day that I have yet to take a vacation since I started this job over a year and a half ago. And with Emily starting kindergarten this year, my time with her in the summer is precious. And I am here, at work, all of the time and never see her. I am whining, I know! I am grateful to have a job and a job that I love. But sometimes I just wish I could be paid to stay at home and be a mom!
Emily is doing so well. She amazes me every day. She is so grown up for her age. Funny story: A few weeks ago, we were at Walmart and she was in one of those moods where she kept asking for everything she saw. By the time we were getting ready to leave, I looked at her and said, "Emmy, you're driving me up a wall today!" Without any hesitation she continued walking and without evening looking at me, "Well mommy, tomorrow I will drive you to the floor!" I am pretty sure my mouth dropped to the floor! This girl does have my quick comebacks...I kind of love it!
