Awake?!

I know, I am a huge slacker lately...but I am going on wwek 10 now of working all 3 shifts in a single week! This working 8am-4pm one day, 4pm-12am another, and 12am-8am another...my body is HATING me right now. Which, in order to stay awake right now, I decided that posting a blog with random happenings would be nice! Or, I could sit here and think about getting off of work at 8am and dragging myself home for a couple hours of sleep before having to return to work at 4pm! Ahh...the joys of being the manager and being short 2 people...
Emily is doing amazing. We went to her follow up appt and the doctor said that he will not be doing surgery because the health insurance we have will more than likely deny the surgery due to the fact that she has never had tonsillitis (sp?) and the insurance company wouldn't see a reason to remove them. I am overjoyed that she doesn't have to have surgery, however, I am worried that she will just keep having chronic sinus infections. So far, she has been off of the antibiotics for 2 weeks, and fingers crossed, we haven't had any issues. Lets hope that luck is still on our side.
She is loving school. She hated spring break! She wanted to go back to school so badly. Luckily, one day at Walmart, we ran into her teacher and that made her day! I am not sure if I said this in one of my last posts, but she is starting to teach herself how to count backwards, she is learning our address, which she almost has down, learning how to spell more and more words, and is overall just doing great. She is quite the inquisitive one...she has to know everything. She is like a little sponge...she wants to absorb so much knowledge.
As for me...well, working crazy hours and still trying to maintain a sense of normalcy. The week after spring break, I went to visit my good friend in Hillsboro overnight one night. This is the very first time I have left Emily overnight...other than when I was in the hospital for a few days back in 2007. I missed her so much, but it was so nice to be able to have some time for me. We didn't do anything special, just went out to dinner at McMinnamins (Sp?), which their food is AMAZING! It was exactly what I needed though...a night to just get away.
Oh, and I am officially down 45 lbs since I started dieting in February. Now if I could just get onto a regular workout schedule, I would be doing amazing I am sure.

9 Blogs...WHEW!!

And the latest with me...2 months ago I was promoted to Front Desk Supervisor. Basically, I just did whatever my manager didn't have time to do, which was everything! Well, after a very long weekend and 12 hours of overtime because my manager couldn't be bothered, I was promoted to Front Desk Manager 2 weeks ago. I am not sure how much I am going to like this, but I am still getting in the swing of things. Haven't had to learn much because I alread knew 90% of the job, but now I am the one that everyone complains to/reports to. I am salaried now, which is nice I guess, and I was able to quit my 2nd job. I didn't leave with a notice because I was very frustrated with the hours I was receiving. But I do believe that only having the one job will be better for me and for Emily.

And just a few pictures of Emily to end the blog with. She is such an amazing daughter. I am so blessed to have her in my life...I can't even imagine my life without her. She makes me so very happy. The picture of her on my bed is what she does on Friday and Saturday mornings while I get ready for work. She grabs my iPod and plays games on it while sitting on my bed! It has become the morning tradition!

Sinus Problems

I am sure you remember how often I would post about Emily being sick. Well, the doctor, whom I have had to switch to a new one yet again because her doctor left pediatrics to go back to just working the Emergency room, decided that Emily was having sinus infections too often. So, she referred us to the ENT. Oddly enough, he is the same doctor who did my eartubs as a baby and removed my tonsils! Any ways, he found her chronic sinus infections odd too. First thing he discovered was that her tonsils are HUGE!! He said that they will have to come out. But, he wanted a CAT scan of her sinus' before anything else. So, off to get her CAT scan after the insurance approved it. Emily did so well during the whole process, which I was worried about because she doesn't do well with new things. The radiologist was so good with her. Every time the bed would move, he would come over the speaker and let her know. I got to sit right next to her and they let her have her favorite stuffed dog and blanket with her.
A week later, we went back to the ENT, and this was the picture that was up on the screen...I just thought that it was so cute, I had to take a picture of it with my phone! Any ways, this doesn't show the sinus', but when he scrolled through and I could see the sinus'...or shall I saw sinus...it made me want to cry. Her right sinus is perfect. Her left sinus is completely blocked. There is no air flow at all going through it. My poor baby :( His decision...treat it with antibiotics 3 times a day for 6 weeks. Mind you, she was already on a 2 week dose at this point. So, 8 weeks total of antibiotics, a follow up appt 3 weeks later with him, which happens to be this Wednesday, and then another CAT scan. If her left sinus is still blocked, he will have to operate on her sinus along with taking her tonsils out. Fingers crossed that the infection just couldn't clear up because of the blockage from her tonsils and that this round of antibiotics will clear it. Will find out more in a couple of weeks I guess.

Childrens Museum/OMSI

I took an extended weekend at the beginning of February and went to Salem/Portland. I took Emily to the Children's Museum in Salem and then we headed over to Portland and met up with my friend Courtney and her boyfriend Josh. We got a year pass to OMSI so we can go whenever and we just split the cost for the pass. We had so much fun...I do believe that I am going to have to go up there once every month or so! I miss my friends so much and I need to escape town every now and then. Spend some quality time with my daughter for a change!

Animals

Emily has the love for animals. I am not sure where she gets it, but it is fun to watch. These are pictures of her first time seeing/feeding a horse and first time holding a bunny. She was in heaven!! I think they smell, but she loves them!

So Smart

These books have been her most recent interest...I guess she will have a jump start on anatomy, right?!

I like to brag about Emily...quite often actually! But, she has learned so much this school year it has amazed me. When I picked her up from school one day, this paper was in her cubby. At first I thought that the teacher had put it in the wrong cubby, (Which is horrible to think, I know!) but then I realized that it was Emily's! I had to take a picture of it!
And the puzzle...I know most of you are like, "It's a puzzle, so?" Well, Emily has recently become obsessed with counting backwards, making smaller numbers into bigger numbers, etc. She was doing this with her puzzle the other day and I just thought I would take a picture of her doing it.

Tangled

I took a day and took Emily swimming, to lunch, icecream and to a movie. The movie, Tangled, was in theaters and it was at the old movie theater, the Bijou, which made it really neat. Emily loved the movie and we are still waiting for it to come out on DVD so she can have it. It was such a fun day. We did everything she wanted. I had been working so much between both jobs that I wasn't able to spend time with her. It was nice to just have an entire day with her and do whatever she wanted.
