Growing Up

Recently Emily has become very independant and has started doing her own hair (with the exception of my helping her brush it!) and is even making her own sandwiches. I know I should be thrilled with this, but it is rather depressing to me that my little girl is growing up so quickly. This is a picture of the very first time she did her hair by herself. She got so many compliments at the stores.

She has been so funny with magazines lately. I will finish reading a magazine and Emily will pick it up, sit down and start "reading" it. I came out of the kitchen one day and saw this...I thought it was just precious.
And finally...Emily comes to work with me for a few hours a couple of mornings each week. She has her routine of grabbing the Post-its and writing on them and sticking them everywhere. One moring she drew these. She even explained to me what they were. The one of the left means that we can't have any mean people at the hotel. The one of the right means we can't have any scary people at the hotel! They are still hanging on the front desk!

It's official...my baby has graduated from preschool! It was a bittersweet moment. She is so excited to be going into kindergarten.

Mother's Day

This Mother's Day was a hard one for me...I think it's because last year my dad just spoiled me. But, I worked most of the day and then I took my mom out for dinner. I try to be a great mom like she has been for me...I am so grateful to have such a wonderful example. I love her dearly and I can't imagine my life without her. I love you mom!
And Emily...she makes my life complete. Every day I feel so blessed to have ber. She knows just how to turn a bad day into a great one. She is truly an amazing daughter.

Sunny Weather...FINALLY!!

We have been taking advantage of the sunny weather here lately. We took the girls to the park the other day...it was slightly wet...ok...I'm not going to lie...it was very wet! But, they had fun. Emily loves being a "big sister" to Molly!

New House

Last month Emily and I moved. My friend, who is also a single mother, needed to find a place to live. So, logically, we thought that moving in together to split the expenses would be great! So, we did. Our daughters share a bedroom and Mandy and I each have our own bedrooms. It is actually rather nice. My mom probably enjoys having some peace and quiet for a change...although she still has Emily 3 nights a week due to my work schedule and such.

Awake?!

I know, I am a huge slacker lately...but I am going on wwek 10 now of working all 3 shifts in a single week! This working 8am-4pm one day, 4pm-12am another, and 12am-8am another...my body is HATING me right now. Which, in order to stay awake right now, I decided that posting a blog with random happenings would be nice! Or, I could sit here and think about getting off of work at 8am and dragging myself home for a couple hours of sleep before having to return to work at 4pm! Ahh...the joys of being the manager and being short 2 people...
Emily is doing amazing. We went to her follow up appt and the doctor said that he will not be doing surgery because the health insurance we have will more than likely deny the surgery due to the fact that she has never had tonsillitis (sp?) and the insurance company wouldn't see a reason to remove them. I am overjoyed that she doesn't have to have surgery, however, I am worried that she will just keep having chronic sinus infections. So far, she has been off of the antibiotics for 2 weeks, and fingers crossed, we haven't had any issues. Lets hope that luck is still on our side.
She is loving school. She hated spring break! She wanted to go back to school so badly. Luckily, one day at Walmart, we ran into her teacher and that made her day! I am not sure if I said this in one of my last posts, but she is starting to teach herself how to count backwards, she is learning our address, which she almost has down, learning how to spell more and more words, and is overall just doing great. She is quite the inquisitive one...she has to know everything. She is like a little sponge...she wants to absorb so much knowledge.
As for me...well, working crazy hours and still trying to maintain a sense of normalcy. The week after spring break, I went to visit my good friend in Hillsboro overnight one night. This is the very first time I have left Emily overnight...other than when I was in the hospital for a few days back in 2007. I missed her so much, but it was so nice to be able to have some time for me. We didn't do anything special, just went out to dinner at McMinnamins (Sp?), which their food is AMAZING! It was exactly what I needed though...a night to just get away.
Oh, and I am officially down 45 lbs since I started dieting in February. Now if I could just get onto a regular workout schedule, I would be doing amazing I am sure.

9 Blogs...WHEW!!

And the latest with me...2 months ago I was promoted to Front Desk Supervisor. Basically, I just did whatever my manager didn't have time to do, which was everything! Well, after a very long weekend and 12 hours of overtime because my manager couldn't be bothered, I was promoted to Front Desk Manager 2 weeks ago. I am not sure how much I am going to like this, but I am still getting in the swing of things. Haven't had to learn much because I alread knew 90% of the job, but now I am the one that everyone complains to/reports to. I am salaried now, which is nice I guess, and I was able to quit my 2nd job. I didn't leave with a notice because I was very frustrated with the hours I was receiving. But I do believe that only having the one job will be better for me and for Emily.

And just a few pictures of Emily to end the blog with. She is such an amazing daughter. I am so blessed to have her in my life...I can't even imagine my life without her. She makes me so very happy. The picture of her on my bed is what she does on Friday and Saturday mornings while I get ready for work. She grabs my iPod and plays games on it while sitting on my bed! It has become the morning tradition!
